Information for Parents about SmartSummers |
Do we need to be Brookline residents to join SmartSummers? No you don't. What are the dates of the programs?
Session 1: Friday, June 27 - Friday, July 11 Can I join a program for more than one session? Yes. Each two week sesion is a stand alone session, but the one that follows it will not mirror what has come before it. Can we join Active Afternoons without joining a morning program? Yes you can! If your child is in a morning program at Brookline High School we will arrange for your child to be transported safely to our program. What programs are offered?
Full-Day Programs What are the hours? 8:30am - 4pm How do I register? You can register by mail, fax, by phone, or in person. Our office is located
in Rm. 101 of Brookline High School, which is located at 115 Greenough St.,
Brookline, MA 02445 What forms of payment are accepted? You may pay using a personal check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card. If registering in person, you may also pay in cash. What forms of paperwork do I need to complete in order to register? At the time of registration, we need a completed registration form. Once your child has been registered, an Emergency Notification Form will be mailed to you. This form must be completed and returned to the BA&CE office no later than May 23, 2008. No child will be admitted into the program on the first day without a completed Emergency Notification Form on file. Who are the counselors? Smartsummers hires a professional staff of experienced educators in each program.
In the CyberSummer Program will students be at a computer all day? No, there will be plenty of active experiences, although with our current software and great labs, they may want to be. Does my child speak enough English to join the
International Program? The program is designed for even the newest beginner, so every student is welcome. Will my child have the opportunity to swim during the program? The Brookline Tappan Street swimming pool is available to all programs. Individual
program directors will determine swim time depending on their curriculum.
Children must be at least 7 years of age to swim in the pool. Children will be escorted as a
group to the pool by their counselors. If your child cannot swim, or is not allowed to swim,
please check the appropriate box on the Emergency Notification Form, which you will receive once your
child has been registered. Often they can spend time at the sprinklers to cool off.
Where do I drop my child off on the first day of the program?

You will pick up your children where you dropped them off. Can my child walk home at the end of the program? If your child is old enough to walk home unattended at the end of the
program day, please check the appropriate box on the Emergency Notification
Form, which you'll receive once your child has been registered. How can I leave a message for my child during
the day? You may leave a message with the BA&CE office at 617-730-2700. |
