David Youkilis, Director and Instructor

CyberSummer is an activity-filled program where students will learn digital camera use, graphic and web design, animation, and a variety of exciting new technologies including Scratch, a program developed by the M.I.T. Media Lab. Each child will learn the web authoring tool Dreamweaver or Web Workshop Pro to design their own website with sounds, photos, movies, and colorful text. Students will use a digital camera and claymation software, iStopMotion, to produce and create their own movie, create an autobiography through digital storytelling, or write and produce their own commercials using iMovie. During free choice time, students can experiment with iPhoto, work with robotic kits (Lego Mindstorms) and play with some of the latest games and 3-D software. Each student will document their summer projects by burning their websites with Quicktime movies onto CDs. Outdoor fun and field games, art time in the scene shop, and water fun will be part of our daily schedule. New this year we have an August session in which both new and continuing students are welcome. Building skills is always our focus.

David Youkilis is a technology integration specialist at the Devotion School in the Brookline Public Schools. He works with teachers to incorporate computers and technology into their curricula. He has been the director of the CyberSummer program for nine years.
