Register in person at our office in Room 100, Brookline High School, 115 Greenough Street.

  6. Registration Fee

A $6 registration fee is charged once per person per semester. This fee helps fund scholarships so that all can participate. The fee does not apply to courses of $15 or less.

    Course Admission

BA&CE courses are open to participants 16 years of age and over. You are officially enrolled and your name is placed upon the class roster as soon as we receive your registration form and payment. Please note: we do not send confirmations unless one is requested and an email address is provided.

    Waitlists & Cancellations

Classes with low enrollments will be canceled 24 hours before the start of class. Please register early to secure your space in class and to help insure that your class runs. If the class you wish to register for is filled, you may add your name to the waitlist online or by calling 617-730-2700. Please note: you are not officially enrolled in a class if you are on a waitlist.

    Auditing

Brookline Adult & Community Education does not allow auditing of classes. Once you are officially registered, your name is placed on a class roster.

    Program Changes

The program reserves the right to cancel classes that are under enrolled, to change start dates, time, and locations when necessary, and to substitute instructors. We will contact you with all cancellations and changes to course dates, times, and locations.

    Room Assignments

Classroom numbers will be posted on the first day/evening of your class. Look for Brookline Adult & Community Education signs and room charts located in the entrance of each building. Please check all room numbers before your second class as we occasionally need to make changes to rooms.

    Scholarships

Partial tuition-remission is available for those in need of scholarship assistance. Disabled veterans, persons on Social Security Disability (SSI), or receiving AFDC receive a 30% discount on course fees upon presenting a letter of verification or veterans' identification. Please call 617-730-2700 for more information.

    Residents of Other Communities

Residents of other communities are welcome to enroll in all of our courses at the same low tuition rates as residents. All discounts and scholarships apply to non-residents as well.

English as a Second Language Students

For new English as a Second Language students, a placement test is offered to help students enter the correct course or level. Placement tests are required of all new students except those who wish to sign up for Basic English. Placement tests can be completed at home or in the BA&CE office during regular business hours. If you wish to take the test in person, please visit room 100 in Brookline High School, 115 Greenough Street. If you have questions, please contact us.

    Senior Citizen Discount

Persons over the age of 65 receive a 25% percent discount on courses, except where indicated. This discount does not apply to special courses co-sponsored by the Council on Aging, which are noted. To take advantage of our senior citizen discount, please call 617-730-2700, ext. 0. Please note that the senior citizen discount cannot be applied through online registration at this time.

    Bring a Friend Discount

If you are a current student, bring a friend with you when you register for a class and you will receive a 10% off your course tuition. You must be listed in our database to be considered a current student. Your friend must be new to BA&CE, and registrations must be concurrent for you to receive your discount. You and your friend may register in person, by phone, or by fax. The discount must be used in the current term, is non-transferable, and cannot be combined with other discounts, waivers, or scholarships.

    Handicapped Access

The Town of Brookline does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission to, access to, or operations of its programs, services or activities. If you need assistance, please contact the BA&CE office at 617-730-2700.

    Gift Certificates

Brookline Adult and Community Education courses, special events, and workshops make wonderful gifts. You may purchase a certificate for any amount up to the full tuition for any course in our catalog. Certificates do not expire, are non-refundable, and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.

    Certificates of Completion

Completion certificates are available upon request from instructors or the registration office at the end of your course.

    Confirmations

If you register by phone, fax, online, or in person, you are officially enrolled in the class unless we contact you. We do not send confirmations unless one is requested and an email address is provided.
