The massive, nodding white globes of hydrangea; the jewel tones of burgundy-purple fall viburnum; the starbursts of cotton-seed tree; the heady vanilla aroma of clematis paniculata are just some of the tints and blossoms at the Arnold Arboretum. We'll bask in the summer's final blooms, identifying and discussing the growing cycles of dozens of plants that might do well in your yard. You'll learn about availability, planting and pruning details, life cycles, and compatibility with other plants. We will compare native versus introduced species, and flower, berry, and fruit selections. We'll also discuss the animal and insect life that certain plants attract. You'll leave with handouts and loads of planting and buying tips specifically tailored to create a showy fall garden. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a notebook, pencil, and camera if you have one. Please note: Some courses may have an additional materials fee payable to the instructor that is not included in the total fee. Please contact the school for details.
