To paraphrase silent movie queen Norma Desmond in the '50s film Sunset Boulevard, Epic miniseries are BIG! It's television that got small! Iconic miniseries are famous for their monumental, multi-part storylines, larger-than-life characters, lavish production values, and casts of many thousands. Join us to learn about and view a rich sampling of the best of the great productions including Rich Man, Poor Man, Roots, Shogun, Brideshead Revisited, The Winds of War, and Lonesome Dove. We'll trace the birth and historical development of the epic miniseries, focus on the form's televisual apotheosis in the '80s, its sad decline in the '90s, and most surprising rebirth in the 21st century. You will leave with a printed filmography, and the books will also be available for purchase.

Please note: Some courses may have an additional materials fee payable to the instructor that is not included in the total fee. Please contact the school for details.

Please be sure to read our Refund, Transfer, and Withdrawal policy before registering for a class.

A $6 registration fee is charged once per person per semester. This fee helps fund scholarships so that all can participate. The fee does not apply to courses of $15 or less.
