Having Fun with Shakespeare (Sec. 01) Course Code: M305-01 Instructor: Spunt Meeting Days: Thursday Dates: 9/23/10 until 12/9/10 Meetings: 9 Time: 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Price: $127 Location: Brookline High School Limited to: 16 attendees Or call 617-730-2700 to register BY PHONE! Shakespeare was not an academic; he was a talented playwright scripting plays that are full of fun, banter, and wit. Although topics such as cultural context, spiritual environment of Tudor England, and the all-important iambic pentameter will be explored, our focus in this course will be on the actor's experience. You will learn the fundamentals of scansion, find the hidden stage directions in the text, and practice performing monologues and scenes. For both the novice and the more experienced actor, this course will take Shakespeare off of his pedestal and muss up his hair a bit. Always with great respect, of course. Our sessions will end with a final performance for family and friends. Please note: Some courses may have an additional materials fee payable to the instructor that is not included in the total fee. Please contact the school for details. Please be sure to read our Refund, Transfer, and Withdrawal policy before registering for a class. A $6 registration fee is charged once per person per semester. This fee helps fund scholarships so that all can participate. The fee does not apply to courses of $15 or less. |
