William Faulkner's Sound and the Fury is one of the most famous, but also the most challenging of the great American novels. Most devotees have been introduced to its many and varied pleasures in a course or group situation, as it is an extremely difficult novel to tackle totally on one's own. We've decided this fall to read this rewarding novel together and to enjoy interesting discussions and explanations. Since the novel contains four major sections, we will devote a couple of classes to each section. Whether you prefer to talk a lot in class, or prefer just to listen, all learning styles are welcome. The required text is available at the Brookline Booksmith. Please note: Some courses may have an additional materials fee payable to the instructor that is not included in the total fee. Please contact the school for details. Please be sure to read our Refund, Transfer, and Withdrawal policy before registering for a class. A $6 registration fee is charged once per person per semester. This fee helps fund scholarships so that all can participate. The fee does not apply to courses of $15 or less. |
