An author's first novel provide special pleasures for a reader. The following three novels provide an opportunity for the reader not only to study, discuss, and share worthwhile reads, but also to delve into the unique qualities of a first novel. In our sessions, we will ask questions while we read The Help by Kathryn Stockett, Mudbound by Hillary Jordan, and The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Please begin to read Mudbound prior to the first session. All titles are available at the Brookline Booksmith.

Please note: Some courses may have an additional materials fee payable to the instructor that is not included in the total fee. Please contact the school for details.

Please be sure to read our Refund, Transfer, and Withdrawal policy before registering for a class.

A $6 registration fee is charged once per person per semester. This fee helps fund scholarships so that all can participate. The fee does not apply to courses of $15 or less.
